Ringing in the New Year

Hello Friends!

I must say I have never been so neglectful (towards something non-school related) as I have been towards writing on my blog.  I don't even know if I have a reader base anymore!  At one point I know that I had a pretty impressive amount of readership, but since I have come home, I have found my time being occupied by other things....like...oh! My family!

So I will say I am sorry and put the last 20 days into perspective because SO much has happened.

First off, I said g'bye to my closest friends from DC and then I went to the airport and waited there for a few hours before I could even go through security because I had arrived too early.  Second, it was snowing on my right before I left and that was cool because that was the first time I have ever had snow fall on me.

SNOW! (There was much more later)
Then I waited to board and had soo much stuff in my carry on and my purse (there were seven books in my purse!), so I had decided to add more to it by buying a book called The Windup Girl.  I was under the delusion that I would read on the 6 hour flight back home. Then I was hungry so I bought Five Guys and had a beer.  My sister convinced me of the beer because I was debating it and she said what if the plane goes down? "You're going to want to have had a beer." So I did because I could, though it wasn't so good (me no likey Stella).

Me and the Fam!
Then I board the plane, no one is next to me and so the woman on the aisle seat and I share the middle seat space. Then I start praying and fall asleep.  I don't remember if I watch a movie or not but I am trying to snooze the time away!  Then we get closer and I start getting uber excited.  We land in California time 945 and the same guy who helped put my one ton baggage on the top shelf helps me take it down and says "JEEZE!" Cuz its so heavy, but really? I didn't ask for the help, I could have taken it down myself! Anyway, I start running towards baggage claim and my family is there to greet me! Yay! All my family (and my sisters bf and my brothers gf) and my cousin and her boys and her mother (my aunt) are there, and so is Gucci.  I missed that dog! Then we collect my bags and make our way home.  Then I play santa claus and give my family the little things I bought for them, Egyptian soccer jerseys, keychains, shot glasses, ect. Then I try to start showing pictures but Sammy is starving for attention and starts showing videos that my family would rather watch than pictures from Egypt and Jordan and so I go to my room with Gerry and we talk and then fall asleep.

We wake up superbly early to go to Gerry's soccer tournament, which means driving somewhere near Pleasanton or Dublin and going to 2 games.  My dad is the coach for Gerry and Luis' teams, and though Luis is done for the season and his team did really well, Gerry is not done and at the first game, FC Rapids U10 boys team was 17-0.  They won the first game and then both team captains had to go to Basketball games and couldn't attend the second game.  They lost their first game this season.  Their opponents weren't even that good! But the boys were stretched too thin and one of the captains was also the goalie and so one of the center forwards had to take his place which left the offense open, and Gerry does well in defense but he needed help (the other captain who left is also defense) and so they lost.  They were not sure if they were able to be in the running for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place! (if they had one and scored goals, they most certainly would have been in the running since it goes by a point system and they were leading before the second game). They were 18-1.  Then the next day, my cousins from Corona came over and we all watched the game.  The team needed to make three goals to play for second and not let the other team score.  Two goals to advance.  It was a super intense game!! I don't think I have screamed so much in a match.  Plus it was against Newark, which borders Fremont.  Newark spawns little pushers and kickers and dirty players and several of our players (including Gerry!) were unnecessarily pushed, side tackled and kicked.  The refs seemed to be on Newark's side! But then Gerry made two goals and everyone was cheering him on and since the team was complete, no goals were made against them! So the next game was going to be for third, and though they deserved to be competing for 1st, since they had the best record of all the teams there, they were going to defend 3rd place with dignity.  The next game was also intense and the other team scored first, but the Fremont Rapids won!!  That was a fun Sunday.  We went home and relaxed and prepared for Christmas.

Then a few things happened.

  1. I cut my hair.  I cut 8-10 inches off. I still have to mail my hair, but I am donating it to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths Campaign.  It is the best one out there (I think) and its not a scam like other organizations.
  2. My oldest sister turned 26! It was a very fun birthday celebration, we enjoyed drinks and Mariachi and 20 of Lola's closest friends came to help celebrate.  Good times!
  3. My friend Briana graduated from SJSU! Yay, congrats! Attending that celebration made it just a bit more real that I'm a senior.
  4. I finished The Windup Girl a few days ago and its a real page turner. I recommend it!
  5. I watched Lifetime movies... I recommend "Marry Me" with Lucy Liu
  6. Christmas didn't seem to really happen this year, I think because I was away from home and not gearing up for it. But I shopped with my mother for everyones things and we wrapped on Christmas eve.
Christmas:

The same welcoming party, minus my aunt and Sammy, went to pick up my sister from the airport on Christmas eve.  Then we went home and my dad and I went to buy my mothers gift and then we went home to make Tamales. Those over 21 enjoyed a bit of liquid courage and we wrapped the rest of the gifts.  Then we ate Tamales and waited for midnight to roll around.  When it did, we sang, as is custom, Happy Birthday to my sister, she is now 25.  Then we opened gifts.

Mom and I battling it out.
The boys got a kinect from Lola (and Will) in addition to a load of XBox and Wii games.  I got three books and a Barbie calendar and a shirt i really wanted. What everyone else got is not important. haha. jk.

But really. Its not.

At Bucca...of course there is a pic
of me and not Rosi

On Christmas day we celebrated Rosi's bday (and Jesus'!) by going to Bucca di Beppo in SF.  That was a load of fun!  Then we debated what we were going to do for the rest of the week and we decided to go to Yosemite.  So this Monday, we packed into the car and went to Yosemite! Apparently going through the curves was treacherous and scary but I was asleep through most of it.  Yosemite is beautiful and I had a snow fight with my mom (the way we take out our aggression towards each other.  Don't let this picture fool you, I won.)  First time in my life I was ever in REAL snow!!! Then we drove back and fell asleep. Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday we did stuff Rosi wanted to do including going to SF to shop, ect.  We have been playing the Kinect of late and thats super fun and I have been sore for days.  But finally, an interactive game in which you know you are burning off calories!!!

Yosemite Falls
Today I was woken up rudely with a phone call from my house phone.  My mother was calling me from downstairs saying that I left the windshield wipers of the van on and the batter was drained. Psh. That wasnt me.  It wasn't even raining when I drove last night. hmph. whatever.  Still, everyone felt the need to call me an idiot and a moron ("Tonta" in Spanish).  So i didn't feel like talking to anyone in my family so I locked myself in my room.  And wrote on here.

Anyway, I have to fold a lot of laundry.  I havent folded anything since returning, but then again, I have not had very much time. Rosi has the entire family on a schedule, and its messing up my zen. Haha. Oh! I watched Tron two nights ago. IT WAS AWESOME! I am in love with Sam Flynn.  And I want to cut my hair like Kora's.  Unfortunately, I am only halfway through ONE of the books I received for Christmas. And school starts soon. BOOOOOO. But school starting means Work starts which means I will have money again.

Movies I love right now:
---Tron

Music I'm listening to right now:

Okay well.

Time Flies even when you are not having fun...

Hello all.

Quick update.

I have been studying today.  But I did go to Ben's Chili Bowl and bought another suitcase. I packed my little one already.  That's all.  Then I ate and studied.  Now I have to go to bed because I am tired and have a final tomorrow.  I will tell you how it goes.

T-4 days 'till I get to leave DC and go home!

Hello Friends and Family, Foes and the like.

I am still not done with my hw, but I have checked off one more thing on my to do list! Hooray!

I need to finish my paper still, but thats okay so far.  I am waiting to receive notes on my powerpoint and so I decided to write to you.

Friday I actually stayed in after a failed attempt to watch Black Swan (but I wasn't going to watch it anyway, I was going to watch Fair Game because I can't do scary movies) and I talked to Max on video chat while my clothes dried.  It was quite a sight, I stayed in the laundry room for a few hours because my clothes didn't dry (because I put too much clothes and didn't want to spend money).

Saturday night was AMAZING!! I did some work, got to eat two Mcdoubles...eww, that sounds so gross, got ready with my girl Ellie, and we looked gooooood! We went to the Columbians' apartment, with the Germans, and then the French came. Haha, so multicultural!

Then we went to the bar that the people from the semester program had gotten for us, a sort of final party.  And it was soooo much fun! Oh my gosh, i havent had that much fun in SO long! The dancing was amazing, i went crazy for Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It" and The Jackson 5, and then Grease, and just such good songs.  Drinks were cheap too. Soo overall a good night except for the fact that I lost my bracelet and ring. MARC! YOU OWE ME!

Okay, well I have to finish my paper and start studying for the final as if my life depended on it!

(It does)

Peace.

The end is nigh....

for the Washington Semester Program that is! [or perhaps it is almost time for me too because I am flippin hungry.  I have not eaten since noon today, and that was not very much because I was eating with my class and i couldn't be a fatty and eat pasta in addition to everything else i ate.  But i did have a slice of chocolate cake...anyway, i am very hungry...I'm inserting this little ditty of hunger at 3:35 am because for some incomprehensible reason I am still awake and working...well. just thought you should know. I am really hungry.]  I have one more paper to finish writing(editing) before I take the final and then am OUT of HERE! I JUST finished the last of my class assignments, and now have to fix my research paper.  It is 1:31 am and I am sooo tired, yet wired because I drank a Gingerbread latte when I was working at Borders!

It feels awesome to finish.  However, I have to start working on this paper NOW.

How I look at the thought of yet another paper...

I have thus written four papers (my 18 Microsoft Word page blog about Egypt counts as a paper) since Monday and I am worn out!! But this paper's original deadline is tomorrow, and I am going to do my best to meet it! It was extended, but I REALLY want to devote my attention to the final on thursday starting TOMORROW. Soooo....this was just a quick update.

Just thought you should know.  And this serves as proof that I am committed to writing on my Blog daily. Tuesday doesn't count since I was not all there...

okay.

peace.

A state of self-induced euphoria

Yesterday was the last day of my internship! I didn't do very much, just one assignment, but I dressed up for it and I had fun being all professional. I wore my cute grey shoes, and now my toes are protesting the pain, but it was worth it! Thanks to my friend Maria, I had a lunch and that was good! Then at 5:04, my boss hands me my evaluation ( i was watching Tina Fey be recognized and receive the Mark Twain Lifetime comedy award on PBS and I was laughing when my boss came...I was sad that on my last day i get caught watching a video - which i never did-) anyway, Ellie (my fellow intern) and I do the happy dance because we also got bags with two shirts in em! Yay! Thank you League! It has been a rewarding experience!!
This was my computer at the League... it was always hot in my corner because I was surrounded by five other
computers, but since I was by myself, I would play music and talk to myself! hahahaha....
Then our our way out, we got lost as we were looking for this bar called barcode, but we find it, enter and order a rum and coke.  Then we start talking and let me just say Ellie has got to be one of my favorite people! We were speaking in spanish for more than half the night! Oh what a little bit of rum can do! Then we had cosmos and were surprised that they were $10 each (we thought it was half off! but we were tipsy so it was okay) then we ordered Tequila Sunrises and that was just a bad idea.  Tequila, unless taken in shots, is NOT a good drink to sip.  Ugh.  Anyway, we got hungry (Ellie did not know what Jack in the Box was!! Gasp! So i showed her on my iphone a pic of the Jack in the Box fries from the interweb) and we went to Tenley cafe to eat and then we went to the lounge to watch the rest of Glee! We were loud but it was Okay! Boris spoke in Spanish with us.  That was fun.  Then I found Marc and we went to CVS because I needed deodorant (i was running low, i did NOT smell!...very much...) and then I considered the idea of going to the Dancing Crab (the bar across from CVS) but resisted temptation.  Then I played a horrible game of pool, and then I drank water, chatted with my roommates,  and started reading on my iPhone's nook and then fell asleep.

Today i woke up sans hangover, but I was very tired.  Class was full of tensions, but only because we all hate each other and it finally got out of control, but then Farida bought us all Chinese food, and we stopped hating each other for the time being.

Then I was super drowsy during our next speaker, and I fear for my ability to stay awake tomorrow if I do not go to sleep soon. I was working on a paper until an hour ago, and since my youngest bro wanted to play club penguin with me, we were on the phone together and playing on Club Penguin. That was fun and made today just so great!

Thanks Gerry!!! Only a week and a day until I see you!!! Yay!
My penguin name is Fajitapita

Okay folks, gotta start editing my final paper...its due in two days! Yikes....

Peace
