Sooooo, for those of you who read this and have come to rely on gaining some daily insight into my life as I am "abroad" I must apologize for not posting an entry last night. I was...shall we say incapable of doing naught but worship the porcelain god.
I woke up at the unappealing hour of 6:45 yesterday morning (3:45 for all you on the west coast, and before you say "well you probably slept for a while and therefore shouldn't complain" I fell asleep at 2 am NYC time. So there. Not much sleep) and was so groggy that my sister and I did not leave the house until 7:45. We rode the bus, then the subway all the way to the World Trade Center. My imagination served me well while I was there, and I was able to imagine how huge the towers were. Unfortunately, I was also imagining how it would feel to be standing on the streets and see a plane hit them. There was some construction going on and I was glad that we (as Americans) are not daunted enough to build another tower. As for the building of the mosque, I was under the misconception that it was to be built on the site itself, and its NOT. It is going to be built two blocks away, which just reaffirmed my own belief that you can build a mosque wherever you want, after all freedom of religion protects just that!

That's the Trinity Church from National Treasure and right next to Wall Street
After that, a glance at Wall Street, a visit to Century 21- the two story shoe store, and onto the Staten Island Ferry. Before that though, Big Mac pit stop at McDonalds. Yummmmmm. Saw the Statue of Liberty from afar and was pretending I was an immigrant on a boat in the early 20th century, watching the Statue (and what it is supposed to mean) come into view. I'm not going to go into the history of immigration here, and what I think is so backwards about our current approach to immigration, but if you wanna know, ask, and mayhap I will indulge your curiosity.

I couldn't resist, McD's hands out bags to transport your water...!
Anyway, took bus to Columbia, bought a $3 Iron Man ice cream- and was complaining the entire time I ate because the ice cream truck in California would cost $1.50 IF THAT! Ugh. Anyhow, Columbia is nice, but it was hot and I was in no mood to appreciate it. Rosi said that Santa Clara is more beautiful and I must agree; I mean I guess Columbia is nice with its fifty million story sky scrapers and I guess some people find that nice.
Gaudy Columbia.
Me being critical about Columbia's Gaudiness.
After Columbia, a horribly long and crowded bus ride to Central Park and that was nice! Very nice! We saw a JCPenney ad being filmed, we know this because an area was cut off and the guy blocking it said so. But the models were prolly nobodies so we left. Then we went to Strand Bookstore and I want to read The Pursuit of Love but I didn't buy it.
Cuz it's all about me
Then we ate at a Thai restaurant called Thai Terminal and it was pretty tasty. I was gonna take a pic but I was so hungry that I just started eating and forgot to snap a pic....sorry Max.
Then we were gonna take the subway but there was a police investigation and I saw this guy get carried by the NYPD in a stretcher. So half hour later, the subway peeps said we should take the busses instead. So I was okay with that because I was playing Sally's Spa Lite on the iPhone (thanks Matt, and everyone should get it!!) but my sis was so mad she we got on a taxi and went to target where I bought eggs, and I just finished making some Apple Cinnamon and Blueberry cupcakes. Theyre good, even if I am eating them at 11:46 pm.
Anyway, today was fun! Even if I did wake up late, my sister made my last day in NYC (for now) really great. Thanks Rosi!
